Definition : Turing test

The Turing test is a measure of a machine’s ability to exhibit intelligent behavior that is indistinguishable from a human. It was proposed by British mathematician Alan Turing in 1950 as a way to determine if a computer has achieved true artificial intelligence. In the test, a human evaluator engages in a conversation with both a human and a computer program, without knowing which is which. If the evaluator cannot consistently differentiate between the two, the computer is said to have passed the Turing test. This test has been a significant benchmark in the field of artificial intelligence and continues to be a topic of debate and research.
